The Oregon State Police, Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office in Clackamas, Oregon is seeking to fill one (1) Full-Time, Permanent Administrative Specialist 2 position.

What will you do?The Medical Examiner Division supervises the investigation of deaths that fit medical examiner criteria as set forth in ORS 146.
All records pertaining to the investigation of such deaths are kept by the Medical Examiner Division, including investigative reports, autopsy reports, toxicology reports.
The Medical Examiner Division is the sole provider of forensic autopsy services in Oregon.
Autopsies are performed by seven physicians who are employed by the division.
State Medical Examiner staff also provide educational services to investigators and physicians at the county level via monthly in-services, a week-long death investigation course provided once per year, and direct supervision of rotating medical students and resident physicians.
As an Administrative Specialist 2 in this position, you will provide administrative support to the Forensic Administrator and pathologists within the Medical Examiner Division.
You will coordinate meetings for various projects, including scheduling, taking minutes, and providing administrative support as needed.
You will also facilitate the completion of death certificates and process requests for Medical Examiner reports in order to release reports to families.
Additionally, you will answer the State Medical Examiner's main phone line and be responsible for providing information and helping callers and visitors, including grieving family members.
You must be able to provide credible sworn testimony in a criminal or civil proceeding arising from the performance of duties.

Minimum Qualifications (these must be addressed in your resume for full consideration):
Three years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis; ORAn associate degree in general office occupations and two years of secretarial or administrative support experience that includes coordinating office procedures, preparing narrative and statistical reports, and administrative data collection and analysis; ORAn equivalent combination of education and experience.
Note:

Preferred Skills (each skill must be addressed in your cover letter for full consideration):
Proficiency using Microsoft Office productivity applications, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
Ability to provide excellent customer service, responding to public requests and questions.
Experience applying and interpreting laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Ability to maintain composure during phone calls and/or visits with grieving and upset families, attorneys, media, and other members of the public, while maintaining confidentiality of private information.
Demonstrated ability to develop organizational systems and tools and the ability to manage time and multiple competing assignments is required.
Experience working in stressful environments and ability to handle exposure to graphic photographs and content.

The salary listed is the non-PERS (Public Employee Retirement System) qualifying salary range.
If the successful candidate is PERS qualifying, the salary range will reflect an additional 6.
95%.
