oTop Three things Worker will be doingThis PFA position must create a positive customer experience for all patients through personalized care with the:
1) Ability to ensure accurate coverages added to the patient account at time of service verifying eligibility and benefits from the insurance carrier for Emergency patient, 2) Accurate and timely assessment of payer and patient liability to communicate with the patient, Care Management team in case of admission; 3) Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations; while notifying insurance carriers of intent to admit and obtaining authorization of payment for stay.
4) Effective communication with patients regarding personal payment liabilities and options for meeting those obligations, to ensure right place, right time, right care.

oHuman Relations Skill:
Demonstrated ability to interact in a sensitive manner with patients, their families, and staff, with communication techniques, tactfully with diverse groups of individuals, (members, and general public in an age-appropriate manner) with the ability to listen actively, respond to fellow employees/customers in a timely, competent manner both verbally and in writing.
Ability to work independently under limited supervision, take initiative, deal effectively with constant change, and willingly accept responsibility, providing information, assistance, and resolving concerns in a caring and compassionate manner.
Ability to effectively cope with sudden death and dying and life-threatening events.
oTactical Skills:
Demonstrated knowledge of the admitting registration, and cash handling processes and requirements, ability to understand and interpret benefit coverage information, including KP Plans, Medicaid, Medicare, Commercial coverages, and other insurance plans.
Including medical terminology, diagnostic related groupings (DRGs/MSDRG's), diagnosis code (ICD-9-CM) and common procedure terminology (CPT 4/APC) codes to determine benefits and estimate service cost.
Demonstrated knowledgeable regarding the impact to Utilization Review, Discharge Planning, Admissions, and other related departments have on reimbursement and ability to communicate financial needs and resources to professionals and patients.
Ability to navigate the intranet, interpret on-line queries and be able to download or replicate information, with clear documentation within the Epic System.
Required Level of Education and Preferred Level of Education:
High school graduate or equivalent and.

One (1) year post high school business or college course work or.
.
Two years of work experience including twelve (12) months of hospital, preauthorization, financial counseling, insurance company or billing experience required or graduate of a health vocational program (12-18-month duration.
) required.
How many years of related experience are you looking for in your ideal candidate? Three (3) years as a Patient Access Representative II or Pre-Registration Representative, or equivalent, in a 24/7 hospital environment.
Two years higher education preferred.
Is certified as a Certified Healthcare Access Associate by the National Association of Healthcare Access Management preferred.
CPR (Basic life support) Preferred but not required Proficient Medical Terminology - must be Certificate or course transcripto Able to pass a KP Standardized test.
Specific Systems Knowledge Required:
Epic is a must ADT (Admit, Discharge, Transfer), including legal requirements of collections and Billing systems Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
) Able to pass a PC skill assessment and keyboarding test.
