The Portland Division''s Liability Claims Department, located in Clackamas, Oregon, has an opening for a Liability Claims Adjuster.
Qualifications:
4-year college degree or equivalent work experience.
2 - 5 years claims handling experience preferred.
Working knowledge of general liability statutes and principles.
Familiar with Risk Management Information Systems.
Strong investigative abilities, including the taking of written and recorded statements.
Problem analysis, problem solving and decision making skills.
Excellent analytical and negotiation skills.
Must be customer service oriented.
Must be self-motivated and an advocate for the company''s position.
Able to multi-task, meet-tight deadlines, and shift priority work loads.
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office and computer claims applications.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Investigate circumstances surrounding incidents to determine liability and assess exposure.
Maintain accurate and timely claim reserves.
Adjust claims, including non-litigated food product claims, product property loss claims and subrogation claims.
Review medical treatment and /or loss earning capacity to minimize claims exposure.
Manage claims and maintain file documentation in accordance with company standards.
Provide periodic status updates to Claims Manager.
Assess claims to determine litigation exposure.
Participate in developing and implementing company, department and individual goals.
Perform other duties as assigned by the liability claims manager.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
