Under the general supervision of the Biomedical Engineering Manager and Chief Medical Imaging Field Service Engineer, and in accordance with the Medical Imaging Equipment Field Service Trainee program, performs preventive and corrective maintenance work as determined through ongoing review to be appropriate for the level of qualification and competency. Provides technical assistance to customers and coworkers and assures that documentation and paperwork are completed.
Essential Functions:
- Complies with the provisions of this job description and the Medical Imaging Equipment Field Service Trainee program, including attending all program course work scheduled by the employer.
- Apply acquired knowledge to enhance on the job training and to actively pursue becoming a Medical Imaging Equipment Field Service Engineer.
- As determined appropriate through performance and competency review, performs scheduled performance assessment and preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment according to established procedures: inspects, calibrates, adjusts, lubricates and repairs or replaces components.
- Documents work performed.
- As determined appropriate through performance and competency review, analyzes and corrects malfunctions on a variety of medical equipment systems.
- Analysis and corrective methods include; observation of front panel and controls; interpretation of block and schematic diagrams; utilization of appropriate test equipment; replacement of components, PC boards, or subsystems as appropriate; calibration and adjustment to manufacturers specifications; working with clinical personnel to correct operator based problems; documentation of work performed.
- As determined through competency review, performs inspection and certification of performance of new equipment/systems, coordinates assembly/installation.
- Prepares and recommends maintenance and test specifications for each electrical and electronic devices and defines inspection and calibration cycles.
- Performs electrical safety inspections and performance assurance testing.
- Completes documentation for entry into the computerized maintenance management system.
- Ensures compliance with medical equipment hazards alerts, advises affected clinical personnel of hazard alerts, takes appropriate corrective action, and documents.
- Education - develops and implements a plan for professional growth. Maintains current with advancing technology, as required, to perform duties.
- Performs miscellaneous duties as directed in support of the need of the organization.

Experience
- Two (2) years of experience as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant.
- Two (2) years of experience working in a cardiology service.
- Two (2) years of experience performing pharmacologic and/or exercise cardiac stress testing.
Education
- AA degree or certificate in electronic service technology, computer service technology or equivalent military training including advance electronics coursework.
License, Certification, Registration
- Must have valid driver's license.
Additional Requirements:
- Must be able to demonstrate proficient knowledge in the operation of electronic, electrical, computer and electromechanical circuits.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficient mechanical skills relating to electronic, electrical, computer and electromechanical equipment service.
- Must be able to demonstrate proficient use of basic testing devices, simulators, hand tools, and hand-powered tools.
- Must demonstrate good oral and written communication skills.
- Must provide personal vehicle for business transportation.
- Background troubleshooting electronic equipment.
Preferred
Qualifications:
- Background in radiographic imaging equipment service.
- Background in ultrasound imaging equipment service.
- Background in computer networking service.
- Background in electronic equipment field service.
- Understanding of various imaging modalities.
- Exceptional ability to work on electro-mechanical systems.
